The first thing you should know about Ariel is that she's a liar. Perhaps she is a dream that was created by a sailor as he lay die on the sands of Bermuda. Perhaps she is the daughter of Iris and Zephyrus. Maybe she can't remember her origins, maybe she can. But what is for certain is she is over 2,000 years old. She is as fickle as the sea. And she has no heart.
